The Philadelphia Eagles are acquiring cornerback Michael Carter II from the New York Jets in exchange for wide receiver John Metchie III, multiple media outlets reported on Wednesday.
According to reports, the Eagles also receive a 2027 seventh-round pick, while the Jets acquire a sixth-rounder in the same draft.
Carter, 26, recorded 14 tackles in five games (four starts) this season and bid farewell to New York via social media.
“New York, I’m forever grateful! You changed my life. So much love to all my dawgs in the building. Greatness is on the way!,” he posted via X.
Carter II has 223 tackles, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions in 65 career games (25 starts) since being selected by the Jets in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Metchie, 25, has four catches for 18 yards in seven games this season with Philadelphia.
The Eagles acquired Metchie and a fifth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft from the Houston Texans on Aug. 17 for tight end Harrison Bryant and a sixth-round pick in the same draft.
Metchie had 40 receptions for 412 yards and one touchdown in 29 games with Houston over the past two seasons. He was a second-round pick in the 2022 draft but missed that season due to a battle with leukemia.
